Sociology: Career opportunities Manuals

The sociologist's professional profile is very broad, because it has at its disposal a wide range of possibilities in the labor market.

sociology White Paper sets out five main areas:

- Social Intervention.

- Human Resources.

- Education.

- Applied Social Research (This includes social studies itself
such, market research and public opinion research).

- Public Policy.

addition to human resources in business, sociologists noted for having a large field of work in market research, opinion marketing.Esto public and the sociologist's because a study inclusive of consumption as social practice, and their symbolic representations, brand image or marketing strategies. Moreover, sociologists are trained to analyze public opinion, the design and implementation of communication strategies in all types of organizations, studies of behavior, attitudes and opinions of different social groups.

Various topics of study that are addressed by sociologists and today are very important, especially at the institutional level: local development issues environmental, equal gender, immigration, social integration, socialization processes, poverty, exclusion, study of organizations, violence, mass communication, quality of life, dependency ... As noted many issues are consistent with social policies and the welfare state.

Moreover, at present, are emerging new areas of work on the rise, as the evaluation of public policies and organizations and work in l ouch known as the "third sector" (NGOs, Foundations ... .)

personally believe that social research (both pure and applied the most) is probably the country with greater interest and more projection.

To say goodbye, I want to leave a picture of where I am working as an intern in the field of research, the CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas), specifically in central and Human Sciences Social. I assure you that the scope of sociological and social research in general, is a booming field of work and very interesting.

modern or contemporary sociology. Movies

Greetings to all.

As already got a bibliography of introductory textbooks in sociology and classical sociology manuals last update, I think it is time to offer a short bibliography of contemporary sociology textbooks (and given the large number
existing book, I made a small selection).

Probably the best known manuals of contemporary sociological theory is that of George Ritzer "Contemporary Sociological Theory" . It is a widely used manual and quite useful (personally, is the manual that I use myself when I have to check some data or information regarding authors and contemporary sociological theories). Another manual

well known is that of A. Giddens and J. Turner, "The social theory today ". However, I must point out that this book is more technical and more dirigiddo are specialists in the field, therefore, that you'll want to enter, I recommend the manual Ritzer.

As English authors, I recommend: "Contemporary Sociological Theory" , R. Flecha, L. Puig and J. Gómez. Well, from what I have seen, is a fairly comprehensive manual and a very clear and precise language.

The following manual that I think I can be useful is "Social Theory in the Twentieth Century" by Patrick Baert .

Besides these, there are other manuals as

"contemporary sociologies" Pierre Ansart . Manual is very characteristic with "wealth of information on sociological schools today, but it is also itself a sociological work"

" Sociological Theories from World War II " JC Alexander.

"Sociology of the Twentieth Century"
G. Gurvirtch and W. Moore.

And if you still want to go further, I'd recommend:

- "The Golden Years of Sociology" by J. Picó. There is a manual of sociology itself, but interrelated sociological theory the sociocultural context and the institutionalization of the discipline, so it may contain useful information in some cases.

- "History of Sociological Analysis" T. Bottomore and R. Nisbert. While not a manual of contemporary sociology "per se", the latest of sociology is quite complete.

Well, before I quit, I want to tell you the literature will be useful here you have at your disposal and if anyone wants any more information feel free to write.

would like to dedicate this update to my grandmother.

sociological: "Six Degrees of Separation" or "six degrees of separation" sociological

"Six Degrees of Separation" or "six degrees of separation" starring Donald Sutherland and Will Smith is a film inspired by the "theory of six degrees of separation" or "theory Bacon" (so named because disciples tried Milgram Test Link to actor Kevin Bacon to any person PALNet), prepared by Stanley Milgram (political scientist who worked in the fields of sociology and social psychology), the theory of six degrees was born around the 60 on the "small world experience "(the feeling that the world is a handkerchief.

The theory of six degrees of separation is to say that any person on the planet is connected to any other by just six jumps. Let me give an example:

A person "A", known to turn a person "B" and this in turn to a person "c" and so on to complete six jumps ... therefore we can conclude that any of us is six breaks of any inhabitant of the earth, from the Queen of England to Ban Ki-moon for instance.

As a curiosity, this theory has recently been proven to some extent, via Microsoft Messenger (analyzing more than 30 billion conversations) reaching 6.6 indicate that they are necessary steps to connect two people.

To summarize the film is about Paul (Will Smith), a young man who enters Kituredge family house (a very wealthy family) and passed by classmates of their children while claiming to be son of actor Sidney Poit.

Finally, to recommend this great film and added that anyone interested has at its disposal the web www.sixdegrees.org
which is a network that is based on these hypotheses and try to be a social network with "soacial consciousness."

Chemical Smell In Bathroom

Movies: "The Truman Show" or "The Truman Show"

The Truman Show is a well known film dealing with the life of Truman, a man with a wife quite common and appears to be a vivid portrait of the "American way of life." If nembargo one day start to feel something observed. "The truth is that it starts to tack
details and moments of his life and doubt is growing: it has never left the town
(which is on an island), his father disappeared, and a girl who liked strange things said that
could not forget. It is actually the involuntary protagonist of a television program broadcast
live their lives 24 hours a day. The people you live is a
decorated and all around him are actors. When discover the network, for thirty years, will try
run but will face its "creator." http://www.auladecine.com/recursos/show_de_truman.pdf
.

interesting thing is the sociological analysis of how a society of mass communication, in this case American society (with one of the most entrenched and fierce capitalism) can lead to ethical debates participants stop and may even be disguised forms of slavery, making a life in business.
I think it's interesting to consider how point the producers of film, television, radio ... and in general all the media in the service of citizens or if instead we who are prisoners of the offer that they give us and we are "beings", most of the time "helpless" in my opinion, to a range of ideas, values ... that are trying to instill the population. The issue of advertising (which is of particular relevance in this film) and "prime time" can also be a topic of interest to address, ... In addition, the Truman Show is a fantastic movie that has some similarities with George Orwell's 1984 and the big brother.

I would like to ask a question before I quit. Do you think it is feasible that in real life we can get to the extremes shown in this movie? Hope you

love the movie and who decides all those who simply have not had the chance to see it. A hug.

Can You Give A Dog A Clonazepam

sociological Movies: Crash

I thought it could be very interesting to discuss movies with a high sociological content or the so-called "sociological films," because I think it might be a good exercise in reflection at a time can be very rewarding to hear the views of others.

first to say that "Crash" is one of my favorite movies. besides being the winner of 3 oscars, hehehe .. For those who have not seen the movie here I leave the synopsis offered on the official web l.

"This exciting urban thriller tracks the fleeting encounter between a group of personasjes and different races who struggle to overcome their fears as they enter and leave the lives of others: A black police detective, two car thieves constantly theorizing on society, the district attorney ocuapdo and irritable wife, a racist veteran cop (caring for her sick father) who does not like his young, idealistic partner, a successful television director and his wife altiav a Persian immigrant who buys a weapon, a Hispanic locksmith and his young daughter.

In the gray area between black and white, where everyone is a victim and aggressor, all collide during the next 36 hours "

As you see, is an argument that at first glance it looks pretty appealing for all that you have not visot I recommend it.

In my opinion, is a film that tries to combine all the complex elements of American society and show what happens when they come into interaction, individual members of it. A film that exposes the various prejudices and stereotypes between different races (white, black, Hispanic, Arab, Asian), social classes, sexes and even ideologies that are shown in the film and show how in one second a set of prejudices that have been taken throughout a long life may collapse.

is a very rich film to be analyzed from the microsociology, for the fleeting social interactions between characters are the core of this work.

If anyone wants to see the film margin will algunios days before giving my views and do a little analysis of some scenes.

Manuals introduction to sociology. Social Interactions

I made this update because I think all of you who are more interested in exploring the world of sociology, having a short bibliography of reference works and reference you can be quite useful.

should be noted first, that as in most fields of knowledge there are many manuals introductory sociology, so I have made a small selection. In addition, everyone who are interested in both general and specific bibliographies can comment me whatever you want.

Here you have some of the major works of reference or reference in general sociology:

Probably the most famous and used manual for introductory sociology today is that of Anthony Giddens . Available in English and English.

maual In my opinion a very interesting to enter to sociology is "Introduction to Sociology" of Maccionis & Plummer. Is available in both English and English.

Regarding manuals classical sociological theory:

Very famous is the manual Theory classical sociology " English sociologist Salvador Giner.

Published in both English and English is widely used manual "Classical Sociological Theory" George Ritzer.

addition, for those who want to further deepen exinten other manuals as

- MARTINDALE, D.: "Sociological Theory." Aguilar, Madrid, 1979.

- Smelser, N. and WARNER, R., "Sociological Theory." Espasa-Calpe, Madrid, 1982.

- Timasheff, N.: Sociological Theory. FCE, Mexico, 1961.

As specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias is important to mention:

- The "International Encyclopedia of Social Sciences, by various authors and published in Castilian by the publisher Aguilar. The volume of sociology is quite good but it can also be interesting to see volumes of related areas.

- The "Dictionary of Sociology" in Castilian Salvador Giner, Emilio Lamo de Espinosa and Christopher Torres. Roberto

Garvía has published work "Fundamental Concepts of Sociology" can also be useful for an introduction to the subject.

publish updates in subsequent references to specialized manuals and contemporary sociological theories.

in farewell also say that a day snorkeling in the library I found a book that caught my attention. "Brief manual of general sociology" Osvaldo A. Dallera "

20 Weeks Pregnant And Lupus Screen Positive

The study of social interaction is very important in sociology (microsociology). The social interactions occur when two or more persons relacionana be together.

Here you have a pretty interesting video to introduce themselves to these issues. Hope you like it. (First video located on the right side bar video).

Are Ball Gags Uncomfortable

sociological experiment

probably all have heard, repeatedly, on television the phrase "sociological experiment" (Very used to refer to programs of Big Brother).
But ... what is really a sociological experiment?

Sociology as any other science is characterized by using an empirical methodology, ie based on some facts observable and testable reality. Therefore the experiment is a research technique also used in sociology.

There are several types of experiments, but here I will discuss the two most used.

The experiment used a more traditional science (both natural and social) is one that takes two groups formed by different members of a randomly selected population. One group served as a control group and a second experimental group.

The main objective of the experiment is to measure to what degree one or a certain independent variables (such as a stimulus of any kind) influence dependent on other variables. To achieve this objective is exposed to the experimental group (and only experimental) to these independent variables that we wish to study. After this step and medullary observe the changes that have occurred after this exposure to the independent variables.

The purpose of the control group as its name indicates variables control the influence of outer factors that may distort the experiment. To do so before the experiment while observing the control group and do it again after watching. Deduce that all those changes that have occurred in the group both experimental and control due to external factors. The control group serves as a summary to keep under control external variables and thus avoid falling into possible correlations false (spurious) caused by external variables.

The experiment must have a number of conditions but the two most important are validity and reliability.
1) Tieneque be valid (measure what it has to be measured),
2) Reliable (consistent repetition of the experiment should give the same results.) Since

ensure random selection of group members who want to study is an arduous task and resource costs involved are very high in the social sciences often make the cuasiexperiento, which is characterized in that participating members on it are not chosen entirely at random but if you try to seek some representatuividad of the population that we studied.

As I mentioned above there are other types of experiments (eg with several experimental groups and one control or vice versa).

An example of this: If we perform an experiment that is representative of all of English society on how it affects the absence of social relations to the individuals in the cuasiexperimento not do a random sampling of the entire English population and would you choose to all lso experiment to rope members but if we would try to ensure some diversity to ensure representation of socio-demographic profiles (Age, gender, ideology, profession ...).

I must say that I have simplified a lot and I tried that first and foremost something as technical as this area is more or less clear. I apologize if I've ever exceding ramblings on technicalities or because my main goal is to make it as clear as possible and anyone can have a full understanding whether or not understood in the subject.

Now that we all pretty much know what is an experiment in future updates I will tell you quite interesting sociological experiments have been conducted over time and debatiremso on topics such as "Big Brother is a sociological experiment?.

And for you to go thinking ... all those that you have had a chance to see Batman: The Dark Knight (recommend) have noticed that it takes a sociological experiment with two groups ... but is truly a scientific sociological experiment ? ...

Gay Hookup Spots Downtown Columbus, Ohio

What is sociology?

think it's important to start this blog saying that I do not want to become a rambling series of techniques performed by the server and without any interest to anyone who wants to approach the world of sociology. That said, I think it is time to get into the topic in question.

begin a bit closer the subject of sociology to those not familiar with it.

Sociology, in a rather simplistic, it is a social science whose object of study is society. Sociology deals with the study of society, phenomena and social interactions mainly topics that can be studied from two different perspectives:

1) The prospects are more focused on individuals and small groups and their relations (social interactions). These prospects are known as microsociological or more commonly known as "micro" and would explore everyday situations such as between individuals, relationships that occur in an institution ...

2) The macro-sociological perspectives by part is characterized by a broader approach which can range from the analysis of a city to the analysis of a global phenomenon as it could be immigration or poverty.

For those who want a more technical definition I found a rather interesting given by the American Sociological Association (ASA) "the study of social life, social change and the causes and consequences of human behavior research (...) the structure of groups, organizations and societies and how people interact within these contexts (...)" http://www.asanet.org/

, however, discuss the correct definition of sociology can be a topic of interest to specialists in the field, but is not the purpose of this blog post here talking about topics as varied as what sociology can contribute to a world as troubled as today?, new fields of study sociology and related disciplines, issues usually tend to create interest in most people as a sociological experiment, and any topic that is of general interest to readers of the blog.

To say goodbye I leave a response he gave Pierre Bourdieu, undoubtedly one of the best contemporary sociologists (in my opinion the brightest) to question him about whether conducted a sociology periodite is a science:

"Sociology is a science fully, but a hard science. Unlike considered pure science, it is par excellence the science that is suspected not. There is good reason for it: it produces Because fear lifts the veil of hidden things, even repressed. Sociology creates fear because it reveals, for example, the correlation between school success, which is identified with intelligence, and social origin or, indeed, with the inherited cultural capital family.. "
